The POS Hydrangea

My mama came down this past weekend and gave me cuttings from her hydrangeas. I was stoked when she told me she would bring it down for me to plant in my garden so I had T take out the last 2 holly bushes to make room for them. But when I received the bunch I was SO BUMMED. That there is what I consider a POS. Sorry but seriously. C'mon. Since it was a "gift" I ended up repotting it in a spare pot I have and set it aside hoping it'll revive itself and look better in a few months. We'll see. So with 2 big holes in my garden I ended up trekking to the home improvement store and bought 2 Nikko Blue Hydrangeas. I'm doubtful the future flowers will be blue. With my sh*tty luck the soil is more alkaline based and the flowers will be more of a pink shade just like the Mini Penny's I planted in the back yard. I'll have to invest in getting an acidic compound to feed the Nikkos to make sure they bloom blue. Blah.

Crumpled Rain Barrel Stand

Our 50 gallon rain barrel filled up quickly after 2 rain storms. It got so heavy the stand crumpled. Um... I don't think it's suppose to do that. Isn't it meant to support the weight of a full rain barrel? I'll have to contact the seller/manufacturer to get a refund of some sort. Now I'll always have to use a hose attachment to fill my watering can instead of placing it right under the spigot. Or I could get bricks to prop the barrel back up. Meh. Other than the stand issue the rain barrel is AWESOME. There was enough water for all my indoor and outdoor plants minus 2 arborvitaes :) Here's how it looks now without the stand.

Repotted

I finally repotted the fiddle leaf fig. He's grown 5 new leaves since I bought him 1.5 weeks ago. Positioned him next to my pretty friggin' awesome zebra slipper chair.

Fiddle Leaf Fig

I finally got one! Still a baby size. One day in my fantasy world it will look like one of these:

But in reality I will try my hardest to get it to look like any of these:

Rain Barrel

Droughts are common down here so we got a rain barrel to stock on some rain fall so the plants don't dehydrate and die. Also saves on the water bill :)

I managed to kill my succulent

It's slowly turning purple. I don't think that's normal. *shrug*

Let there be light!

Since we moved here (6 months ago) the lamp post across our street has never turned on. EVER. At night it's really dark across that way so I don't walk our dogs in that direction. We finally sent our HOA a list of To-Do's and the utility people finally popped in to install wires. I hope these are for that lamp post. *crossing fingers* This will also save us on our electric bill since we won't be turning on our driveway lights as much anymore, even though we use CFL lights.
